Sofia Vergara is celebrated for her beauty as well as her comedic abilities. The actress trains hard to keep her figure camera-ready, and works with celebrity trainers such as Gunnar Peterson and Jennifer Yates. Work the Whole Body
“I don’t do that many isolation movements, like single joint stuff,” says Peterson. “I do bigger movements. If we’re going to do a lunge, we’re probably going to add an upper body component to it, like a lunge with a wood chop, a side lunge with a wood chop, or a rear lunge with a lateral raise, or a forward lunge with a front raise.”
Focus on the Backside
“She [Vergara] loves working the butt,” says Yates. “We do a lot of squats and deadlifts and a lunges [on the machine], and we do a lot of things off the machine as well. Recently we’ve been combining some of the heavier weights for the lower body because she’s trying to put a little more mass on, so we’ve been doing a lot of work with kettle bells. She’s really strong!”
Indulge, But Still Work Hard
“When I do indulge, I exercise a bit harder the next day,” the Modern Family star says. “My workout motto is really simple: No pain, no cake!”
Exercise On Vacation
“She’ll take weights and resistance bands with her,” says Yates.
“Try to give yourself small goals,” Yates notes. “If you’re new to working out, maybe start with two times a week and let your body rest in between. Also remember diet is 80 percent of staying in shape and being healthy. Eat protein within 45 minutes after working out to let your muscles recover and repair, and drink lots of water!”
