According to a new study published in Lancet Public Health, living in close proximity to a pool, gym, or playing field makes you more likely to be in shape. Living near fast food restaurants has the opposite effect. Learn more about this study as part of your Phentermine 37.5mg weight loss efforts:

The Study

Researchers looked at the weight, body fat, and waist measurements of 400,000 UK women and men ranging in age from 40 to 70. Data was collected between 2006 and 2010 and found that, on average, those who lived less than one mile away from a fast food outlet were more likely to be overweight than those who lived close to a gym or other fitness center. Those who lived close to gyms had 0.81 less body fat and slimmer waistlines.

It is likely that communities without the neighborhood resources needed to encourage a healthy lifestyle put their residents at a higher risk of obesity,” senior study author, Steven Cummins of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, said. “This could be improved by restricting the number of new fast food outlets in a neighborhood and how close they can be to people’s homes, incentivizing operators of physical activity facilities to open in residential areas with few facilities, or funding local authorities to provide such facilities.”

Changing Addresses?

While this study does not account for public parks or bike paths, assuming living close to fitness centers makes weight loss more likely is not entirely far fetched. This does not mean you have to change your address, but it does mean finding recreational areas or fitness outlets near you is a great idea!
