Study: Can Marijuana Help You Lose Weight?

A Metabolism Boost?

People assume marijuana users are heavier because it stimulates appetite,” said Tom Clark, chair of the biological sciences department at Indiana University South Bend, the university that commissioned the study. 

Clark and his staff analyzed 17 studies that included nearly 156,000 participants, finding the marijuana users weighed less. THC appeared to increase the metabolism over time, even if it initially results in “the munchies.”

To prove the theory requires a study that gives some people THC and others a placebo.”
