Experts Say Losing Weight is Extremely Difficult Without Doing This One Thing

According to recent research from the American Psychological Association, COVID-19 has caused “significant stress” for 78% of the American population. Experts note how chronic stress contributes to emotional eating and weight gain. Learn more about the research to help combat stress for a more effective Phentermine 37.5mg regimen.

A Decline in Mental Health

Survey participants of all ages said they felt more isolated, lonely, unhappy, restless, and depressed amid the coronavirus pandemic.

"This survey confirms what many mental health experts have been saying since the start of the pandemic: Our mental health is suffering from the compounding stressors in our lives," APA chief executive officer Arthur C. Evans Jr., Ph.D., noted in the poll's announcement. "This compounding stress will have serious health and social consequences if we don't act now to reduce it."

Stress & Overeating

Stress increases the risk of emotional eating, or eating for reasons besides hunger.

"Emotional eating is a recurring, unconscious attraction toward foods that fulfill an emotional void or distracts you from what's really bothering you," Amy Kimberlain, RDN, LDN, CDE, registered dietitian nutritionist and spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, remarked to Eat This, Not That!. "Yes, this may include emotions ranging from stress, sadness, frustration, and anxiety, to name a few."

Eating for emotion-based reasons can retrain the brain to use food for coping purposes.

"Often, these are comfort foods, such as fast food or sugary snacks, which do little to keep our diet on track," says Ashley Rademacher, CPT. "Since these foods do not provide the desired effect, it creates an even more negative headspace if you often feel guilty about the foods that you eat."

Experts recommend avoiding stress and emotional eating activities by still allowing yourself to enjoy favorite foods in moderation, counting backwards from 1,005, watching new and stimulating content on streaming channels, drinking lots of water, and acknowledging your emotions among other tips
