4 Things That Happen To the Body When You Drink Beer Nightly

Beer is no friend to weight loss. While there’s nothing wrong with imbibing every so often, drinking beer every night won’t help your weight or your overall health. Learn what can happen here as part of your Phentermine 37.5mg fast weight loss education. \

You Consume Extra Calories

Drinking beer every night means ingesting empty calories. A lot of empty calories.

"First, calories in beer can range from as low as 60 to as high as 240 calories per 12 ounces," Elizabeth Huggins, RDN tells Eat This, Not That! This, of course, can be an innocent habit at first. "But it can lead to weight gain, especially if your beer enjoys the company of snacks."

You Get a Little Too Relaxed

Lethargy is common from drinking, which gets in the way of physical activities that promote weight loss.

"It may relax you so well that you don't get off the couch to take that walk that you said you would take," says Huggins.

You’ll Feel Bloated

Routine beer drinking "causes bloat and can irritate your digestive tract," says nutritionist (MS) Katie Boyd.

"Drinking beer can make your stomach produce more acid than usual, which can turn into inflammation of the gut lining. This can have long-term side effects like gastritis," she adds. "They don't call it a 'beer belly' for nothing."

You’ll Feel Tired

Want to sleep better and therefore keep your hunger hormones in check? Drink less.

"The more you drink and the closer to bedtime, the more likely you will experience diminished sleep quality," says Huggins. How so? "Alcohol in beer causes gastric acid to be secreted and could increase your chances of suffering from heartburn or gastroesophageal reflux, which in addition to being unpleasant, can also negatively impact sleep."
