New research from Stockholm University has found engineered ingestible molecular traps produced from mesoporous silica particles (MSPs) may be the new key to ending obesity. Learn about this study, which was published in the journal Nanomedicine, as part of your continuing weight loss education from Phentermine 37.5mg.

Weight Gain Treatments & Side Effects

Researchers were looking for new and different ways to treat the obesity epidemic. They believe silica particles could be used as “molecular sieves” in the intestine that trap and prevent digestive enzymes from breaking down food, which would increase the body’s energy uptake.

“We chose an innovative alternative approach. Mesoporous silica particles (MSP) are a type of ingestible synthetic silica particles that can be produced with a large surface area and a range of pore sizes,” says professor Tore Bengtsson at the Department of Molecular Biosciences, The Wenner-Gren Institute, Stockholm University and the one heading the research team behind the study.

Reducing Food “Efficiency”

By blocking digestive enzymes, silica reduces “food efficiency” to promote weight loss and positively affect the body’s metabolic profile.

“The data presented in this study suggest that tailored MSPs could be used to treat obesity and diabetes in humans, especially when taking into account their excellent safety profiles. Since we completed this work, clinical trials have been devised and are now underway,” says professor Tore Bengtsson.

And while more research on the subject is needed, silica could provide a lasting solution to obesity. Whether the introduction of silica to the body will come with any side effects is yet unknown. Phentermine 37.5mg may include side effects; however, they are typically easy to manage with the right lifestyle practices.
