The frozen food aisle includes items that can help with weight loss, such as frozen berries that make excellent smoothie additions. However, there are a variety of frozen food dishes that should stay in grocery store freezers. Hungry-Man Boneless Fried Chicken
The favorite frozen dish comes loaded with fat, sodium, carbs, and calories. And while the dish still features protein since it’s chicken, the 39 grams of fat do nothing for weight loss.
“[That’s] literally half of what an average grown adult should have in a day,” says registered dietitian Talia Hauser. “The sodium is also extremely high at 1,120 milligrams, again about half of what an adult should have in an entire day. There are only 7 grams of fiber which is pretty low for an entire meal, mostly because it’s lacking any high fiber vegetables or grains.”
Jimmy Dean Meat Lovers Breakfast Bowl
Low in nutrients and high in fat, this Jimmy Dean breakfast option does nothing for weight loss or overall health. The fat content alone includes 15 grams of saturated fat.
“Frozen meals are quick, they’re easy, sometimes time just gets away from us and you’re looking to get something on the table quick,” says Nicole Buerkens, PhD, CNS of why people turn to frozen fare.

The dish includes 1,320mg of sodium as well as 350 calories and 16 grams of fat, six of which is saturated. It also features plenty of chemical additives.
“You’re going to see a lot of chemicals and additives where you think, ‘Huh, if I was going to make [this] in my kitchen I wouldn’t use any of those things, and I don’t even know what many of those things are,” Buerkens says.
